A businessman from Brisbane is the latest person to take legal action against Google over its search results.

Jarrod Sierocki, 31, is claiming damages of $2.6 because, he says, his reputation is being destroyed online, the International Business Times reports.

Mr Sierocki, who operates an insolvency consultancy, also wants a court order for Google to remove specific search results attacking his character in online discussion groups. He is reportedly the first person in Queensland to file a case against Google for defamation.

The new case comes after a well-known action in which a court Victoria which ordered Google to pay $200,000 in damages to a Melbourne businessman because of search results linking him to a criminal drugs enterprise.

Mr Sierocki’s case is filed in the Brisbane Supreme Court.
